Sidewalk Tear Outs Give up multiple silver and indians

6/20/2013

Monday and tuesday I hunted two different sidewalk tear outs. Monday I was with BadJim and hunted a section in my town that was in front of 5-6 old houses. Tuesday I was hunting in a town north of me with my buddy Erich and it was almost 2 blocks long and the houses were all turn of the century. Sadly we ran out of time and I doubt I can make it back since it is over an hour from home. We barely scratched the surface there. But the finds were incredible!!!! 5 total silver, Frankling half, 2 mercs, and 2 rosies, 4 indians 1892, 1896, 1897 and 1907..the 1896 was laying right on the SURFACE of the sidewalk dirt!

Got several wheats, couple buttons, heart pendant which rang up like silver but I think it is just plated, a cool medal that says American  Veterinary Medical Association
and it dated Aug 23-27 1920. And my Favorite find was actually the 1852 One Penny Bank of Quebec Token. It is huge! Bigger than a half dollar sucker weighs almost 19 grams!

I attached a couple pics of the tear outs....if you ever see these, hit em fast what ever is there will be covered up again for another 50+ years!

78 cent Pocket Spill

BadJim and I did a saturday morning hunt, we hit some curbstrips and an old house. Was getting a bunch of wheats and some clad, nothing spectacular. We hit this old abandoned house, and again getting clad and wheats. came across this signal was bouncing around from wheat to silver area.

I cut the plug and out comes a wheat, re-scan the hole and this time it is screaming silver, the etrac said 01-47.....put the pinpointer in the hole and out comes a BIG silver rim, it was a franklin half! re-scanned the hole again and this time the etrac said 12-47, out came a silver washington....re-scanned the hole again and this time it was 12-44, in the hole was 2 more wheats.....NICE 78 cent spill!

The dirty picture is everything in the spill. Also got a token that was BADLY corroded, did some serious sos pad scrubbing to get it this clean, I thought it was going to be a total loss.

Another fun day, hunted with my buddy Erich. We hit this old farm and nothing super old was found, still got some keepers. Silver dime, token good for 5 cent loaf of bread, soap token, small sterling ring, oriental style button and dog tag. Dug about a dozen wheats not shown. This tree was in the back yard the size of it was enormous, look at the swing underneath it to get an idea of the size!

Finally a GOOD yard! Jim and I have Been knocking doors all week this was about the 8th or 9th yard this week and nothing but clad and wheats all week long!

We went back to the town we were at a few weeks ago and got permission for this yard. I got a 1907 Indian, war nickel, 1899 barber, 1918s SLQ, about a dozen wheats and over $3 bucks in clad. The marble was in a hole with a wheat. Was great to finally get onto a good property!

On the SLQ it is hard to see date in pic, Picture is taken with my iphone but you can see a real faint 1918 when your holding it in your hand.
